Development of Educational Service for Human (DESH) is a non-government, non-profit, rights based voluntary development organization work with disadvantaged children, adolescents & women in Bangladesh. DESH has been trying to stand behind the deprived and destitute people especially children, adolescents, children with intellectually disabled & autism, children’s from commercial sex workers, children’s from third genders, poor & vulnerable women, and disadvantage groups like indigenous, dalit, disability, LGBTQ and language minority communities. It strives with its sincere efforts and faith with a view to bring smile among the deprived people of the community, practicing freedom, exploring the productive and innovative power, establishing human rights and dignity by reducing mal-growth exploration of unequal power, superstition, hypocrisy, deprivation, terrorism, illegal ruling and invasion and destroying the devil power of the society. DESH has been working to realize the dream “A society where every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, can live with dignity, respect and safety”. A group of committed staff are working hard with trust and sincerity to achieve the goal and objectives of the organization. All the activities of DESH are being operated to bring positive changes by considering the situation, analyzing the capacity and scope of the program participants. DESH has completed twenty years of its development journey towards empowering disadvantaged children & adolescents, children with intellectually disabled, poor and vulnerable women and disadvantage groups like indigenous, dalit, disability, LGBTQ and language minority communities. DESH was established as a voluntary development organization in 2003 by a group of professionals, benevolent citizens and philanthropists who were inspired by the philosophy that development is only possible if the community is empowered to resolve their own problems and crisis. At the very outset, DESH began its work from the community level with a special focus on CBO development & activation, non-formal education, special education & rehabilitation for intellectually disabled, child protection, livelihoods, and health care as well. At present, the main projects of the organization are ensuring education for disadvantaged children project, adolescent development project, children with special needs project, pre-schooling, special school for intellectually disabled & autism, vulnerable women benefit project and empowering disadvantaged community project. Besides these, DESH also address on child protection, adolescent empowerment, eradicating hazardous child labour, skill development training (SDT), health & nutrition, rights & advocacy and community development. DESH also covers climate change resilience and emergency response, research & training and Interactive popular theatre & puppet show.
