IGA & Skill Development Training

DESH sustainable livehoods program aim to improve the availability and economic access to food for poor people through strengthening livelihoods, securing entitlements and enhancing accountability of service providers. The sustainable livelihoods program is the heart of DESH;s mission to promote sustainable livelihoods and empower individuals and communities. This initiative centers on equipping people with the skills and knowledge needed to build resilient livelihoods and fosters an entrepreneurial spirit.
Skill Development Training (SDT):

Trough this program DESH has supported income generation related activity such as duck & hen rearing, cow rearing, vegetable gardening, small business etc. among the out of school adolscent, disabiliies family and vulnerable women. Now they are developing linkage to bring community development. There are special school in the working area and vocational skill related training has being done. Besides these, DESH also being involved in differnet donor agency. The Skill Development Training projects is:

1. Post Literacy & Continue Education for Human Development (PLCEHD-2) Project: Funded by BNFE
DESH successfully implemented 53 Learning centers at Bhuapur & Madhupur upazillas of Tangail district under 3rd phase of post literacy & continue education for human development (PLCEHD-2) project. Under this project 4200 new literate (male 2100 & 2100 Female) got post literacy and continuing education (skill development training-SDT). Funded by ADB through BNFE. Duration of the project July 2012 –May 2014. Now the targeted people utilizing their aquired knowledge and skill in an expected manner.
2. Eradicating Hazardous Child Labour (4th Phase) Project: Funded by: Ministry of Labour & Emplyment
DESH has established 40 vocational training centers. Around 893 child laborers received Vocational Training who were involved in hazardous child labor in Mymensingh & Shylet Corporations from January 2022 to December 2022. This project was covered two components. The first one is NFE and another is STD. Now the child labor has reduced in the targeted community. On the other hand, after receiving skill development training, now they are involved in many self-employments, which brings sustainable development in the community. They can also protect themselves now than before.
3. Enabling Environment for Child Rights (EECR) Project: Funded by MOWCA-Unicef
Created a culture of respect for children’s protection rights and enabling an environment by changing social norms through social protection services. Strengthened capacity in government and civil society responses to protection issues and by establishment of protective mechanisms against abuse, exploitation and violence. Provide skill development training & Seed money for out of school adolescent. DESH has implemented this project at Mymensingh & Netrakona Districts. At present the project component continue by DESH.. Project duration (July 2010- June 2014)
Income Gererating Activities (IGA): Funded by: EECR-MoWCA & DWA.

Income Gererating Activities (IGA):
Trough this program DESH has supported income generation related activity such as duck & hen rearing, cow rearing, vegetable gardening, small business etc. among the out of school adolscent, disabiliies family and vulnerable women. Now they are developing linkage to bring community development.

EECR Project:
With the help of EECR project, total 380 vulnarable adoloscents have received seeds after receiving the training IGA Planning and Management. They also received BDT.15000.00 for start the small IGA business.


PLCEHD-2 project:
There are 2100 male and 2100 female have received training on IGA and now they are activiely involved in varioas IGA related small business such as cow rearing, goat rearing, duck-hen rearing, candle making, vegetables gardening and nursary as well.


Vulnerable women benefit (VWB) project:
DESH has been implementing vulnerable women benefit (VWB) project at Phulbaria & Issorganj upazilas of Mymensingh District of Bangladesh since November 2023 to till to date. DESH working with 3938 vulnerable women at these upazila for their capacity building & empowering. The Major activities of the project is provide IGA training, Gorup formation & activation, savings realization, awareness rising, and linkage development.
